On The List: Gotham
The second show on my list is the upcoming series based on characters published by DC Comics: Fox’s Gotham.
I have always been fascinated with the relationship between Batman and Commissioner Gordon, interested to get the full story on how they really became allies. Fox’s Gotham, premiering on September 22nd, shows a lot of promise by giving viewers a little bit of background on them as well as some of Gotham’s future villains. Now I am more of a Marvel fan than DC but this definitely sparks my interest.
Though I will wait until we’re a few episodes in, I do believe the ratings for this show may fair better than ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of Shields, which premiered to good numbers but declined and steadied to what I considered to be below par numbers given the Marvel fan base.
Per Fox:
Before there was Batman, there was GOTHAM.
“Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker?”
