Three Books That Would Make Great TV Shows

Books are adapted for TV and film all the time so I thought it was time I threw of my favorites in the ring for consideration. Today, I’m specifically talking about TV adaptations. While I love films, television has always had a special place in my heart. You all know how easily I become invested in characters and television allows me to do that. I’m able to fully experience the rollercoaster with them. Sure, there are continuous cliffhangers but that doesn’t bother me much.

Sure, I currently have about 55 television shows in rotation but I can add a few more if it’s worth it, right?

Here are three books that would make great TV shows:

The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison

The Silent Wife, in my opinion, was definitely a sleeper bestseller. Compared a lot to the phenomenon that was Gone Girl, however, this book stood on its own. This psychological thriller would make for a great limited series a la Secrets and Lies. While I know it’s being made into a movie starring Nicole Kidman, I think it could’ve been ratings gold for the small screen as well. Who doesn’t like a good calm, lethal thriller? I could see Twitter having a field day with this show on the nights it aired with theories and opinions.

The List by Anne Calhoun

I would be very interested to see these characters on my TV screen. The content is a bit racy so I think Showtime would make a great home for this series. While I specificially mentioned The List, I would want the show to feature everyone from her Irresistible series. It would be great to see how Matilda matched these unique couples behind the scenes as she worked on her “official” business and a complicated relationship of her own. These aren’t your average relationships either; they all have their quirks whcih would make for pretty inriguing television. I can see it as a show that girlfriends would sit around, with a couple glasses of wine, and watch on a Friday or Saturday night.

The Ramsey/Tesano series by Altonya Washington

I know you all aren’t surprised that I found a way to add this book to my list, huh? 🙂

These characters would find a great home on Starz, HBO, or even Netflix. It has enough grit, drama, sex, and love to make for compelling television. When I picture a show with the infamous Ramseys and Tesanos, I think of something similar to Soul Food. Now that was a show that I couldn’t get enough of!

Now this is just a wishlist but if for any reason these books were turned into a TV show, I would be as happy as a clam! My television would stay on, and my DVR would be at max capacity at all times.

Now it’s your turn! What books do you think would make great TV shows?
