The Best Book I Read in 2015
This post was originally going to be about the new releases in 2015 that I loved, but I quickly changed my mind. I’ve read a ton of books this year and a lot of them weren’t even released this year. Then I wrote a post about my top three and scratched that idea. I realized that I only wanted to talk about one book.
I wanted to talk about the best book I read in 2015, the one that simply took my breath away; Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.
Louisa Clark is leading an ordinary life in a small village until she takes a needed job working with wheelchair-bound Will Traynor. Their relationship gets off to a rocky start, but soon cold distance turns into a love for the ages. When Louisa finds out about Will’s shocking plans, she makes it her mission to show him that there is a life still worth living.
This book is simply phenomenal. I was a little late to the Jojo Moyes party but trust me, I have seen the error of my ways. Me Before You came out in 2012 and this year was my first time reading it. I am absolutely annoyed that no one pushed me to read this book sooner! (Yes, I am looking at every last one of you!).
Me Before You pulled all the necessary emotions out of me. I smiled, laughed, loved and cried while reading this book. Reading these 369 pages was like riding a rollercoaster. It made me re-evaluate what a happy ending looks like and what happens when the person you loved the most disagrees about something monumentally important. How do you get someone to see light when for years, all they’ve allowed themselves to see is darkness? What happens when you fall in love with someone knowing you’re simply on borrowed time? Yes, we’re all on borrowed time but it’s a difference when there seems to be a glowing countdown ever present in your mind. The book dives into all of this and more and is a prime example of when opposites attract. At first glance, Louisa and Will have nothing in common but soon we find out that love can change everything.
I can honestly go on and on about this book and I’ve tried very hard not to spoil too much (though I failed a bit in that department, to be honest). However, regardless of everything I’ve said, you simply must read the book. My description and glowing recommendation HARDLY does the book justice.
Pick up the book, if you have not already, and get lost in the pages. If you’re anything like me, Me Before You will cause you to evaluate a few things, cry or simply fall in love.
Has anyone else read Me Before You, if so -what did you think? What is the best book you read in 2015? Let me know in the comments below!
