Lovers at long last? Behind her good-girl façade, Camille Ryan harboured a secret desire to write erotic romances. When one of her racy stories fell into the wrong hands, she had no choice but to flee her bible-thumping Georgia town. Now her father’s unexpected health scare turns her world upside down and brings the pseudonymous author back home to Fairdell—and to the man she sacrificed her happiness to protect. Remington Krane never got over losing Camille. When he shows up on her doorstep demanding answers, desire once again ignites, culminating in a night of passion they’ve waited years to fulfil. Camille fears the scandalous truth could ruin the business scion’s mayoral bid. But when another woman orchestrates a campaign that could sabotage his second chance with Camille, it’s Remi’s turn to give up everything—except the woman he loves.

Return to Passion is the first book I’ve read by Carla Buchanan, but thanks to monthly Harlequin Kimani subscription (which is BAE), I’ll be checking out more of her work.

10 years ago, Camille Ryan left her small hometown of Fairdell, Georgia so she could write erotic romances without ridicule from the bible thumping people in her town. She didn’t just leave her father and friends, she left the love of her life, Remington Krane.

Her father’s health issues bring Camille back to Fairdell and eventually back into Remington’s arms.

Remington never got over Camille leaving him and when she returns, he requires answers. However, one thing leads to another and they both realize that the love and passion, though never consummated, is still there. After all these years, they may finally get the relationship they’ve both long wanted.

They decide they want to be together but that’s going to prove to be even harder than it may have been 10 years ago. Remington is prone to run for Mayor, and the small town folks may not be fond of her their leader’s significant other writing works that rivals E.L. James and others. Add the fact that there are a few people adamant that Camille will never be good enough for Remington and we may have the most scandalous thing this town has ever faced.

Admittedly, I am not a fan of small town romances. Rochelle Alers has been the only author who I’ve allowed to get away with it. The other romances I read that featured small town were not my cup of tea. However, I am a fan of the second chances subgenre so I decided to give Return to Passion a chance. It also has a lot to do with the fact that Remington Krane is one fine man. Let me know to even front about that. 🙂

Remington is a man that knows what he wants. He wanted Carla back and was determined to do whatever he could to make sure she didn’t run away again to protect him, even if it meant giving up the career he wanted. What I loved about this book was that they both had ambitions and pretty lofty goals and respected that about one another. Too many times in small town romances, the characters knew nothing more than their town and had no desire for other things outside of that. Remington and Camille were different and I appreciated that.

Return to Passion is a nice short read about the power of second chances and telling the truth, without fear of what others may think.
