On The List: Shades of Blue

‘On The List’ is where I preview new television shows that I think should be on your radar this upcoming fall season.

Next up on my list is an upcoming NBC drama, Shades of Blue.

To be honest, NBC hasn’t wowed me with their content in a few years. However, I always give them a fair chance at the beginning of each season simply on the strength of Law & Order. In their defense, I’ve thought they had a few hits with some of their shows over the past few years but for some reason it didn’t stick with the viewers. Two shows I was particularly disappointed about was Undercovers with Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Ironside with Blair Underwood.

However, I really think they may have a good one on their hands with this new drama, Shades of Blue. They definitely have the star power with Jennifer Lopez and I am really intrigued with the premise.

Per NBC:

In a steamy new drama, the iconic Jennifer Lopez stars as sexy New York detective and single mother Harlee Santos, who fell in with a tight-knit group of dirty cops, taking bribes and protection money that she uses to provide the best life for her honest, talented daughter. But when she’s trapped by the FBI and forced to inform on her own “brothers,” she’ll have to walk the fine line between love, loyalty, honor and betrayal, and try to keep it together for her daughter’s future.

From Oscar-winning Director and Executive Producer Barry Levinson (“The Humbling,” “Wag the Dog,” “Homicide: Life on the Street”).

I will definitely post an official trailer as soon as it becomes available.

Shades of Blue premieres on NBC in 2016.
