Author Spotlight: Rochelle Alers
August is Read A Romance Month! In celebration of my favorite genre, I am highlighting some of my favorite romance authors.
Live, Love, Read Romance is Rochelle Alers’ motto and one I wholeheartedly agree with.
While trying not to sound like a broken record, you all know how much I love a good romance series. There is by far none that I love more than Rochelle Alers’ Hideaway series. The first book was released in 1995 but I was first introduced to her about 10 years later. The Hideaway Series follows the Cole family, perhaps the wealthiest African American family in the U.S. They have a lot of money but they have even more love.
The tales that are weaved and the stories we are told has this family forever imprinted in our hearts. Longtime readers have become invested in these characters lives. We were fascinated by Samuel’s climb to the top through hard work but disgusted by his act of betrayal in his marriage. We wanted him to accept Joshua while almost smiling with glee when Joshua gave him a hard time. We have followed the family through three generations and the stories do not disappoint.
Let me stop before this sounds like a rant (albeit a positive one). The Hideaway series is not her only work, she has over two million copies of her books in print. Most of her books are a part of a particular series, the Eatons are another family I would suggest reading about if you have the time.
Of course, given my Hideaway crusade, I have to recommend you start with Hideaway. There are currently 14 books in this particular series but all are definitely worth the read. For a full list of all her books, please visit her website.
