Keris Bradford is a woman on the brink.
Of what?
She doesn’t quite know.
Her life is shifting, rapidly, and the sudden, captivating intrusion of Laken Kimble isn’t exactly… reassuring.
For Keris, Laken is comfort and risk wrapped in one very appealing package.
For Laken, Keris is barrier and providence all at once.
For both, there arises a need to navigate those contrasts to a conclusion neither was looking for… a need to answer a simple question.

If you want this… what are you willing to offer in exchange?

Equivalent Exchange has so many of my favorite things, I was like a kid in a candy store while reading this book. I made a rookie mistake and started reading late at night on a weekday. You girl blinked and it was maybe 2am. I got about four hours of sleep but trust me, it was worth it!

Before I get into specifics, this song reminded me of an old favorite: Night Shift by Busy Signal. Not even because the lyrics match the storyline, because they don’t but both the song and the book are a damn vibe and they share names so indulge me. Here it is for your listening pleasure. If you’re not familiar with the song, get into it. And even if you are, sing along with me. 🙂

Do you believe in kismet? If not, by the end of this book you may be more open to the concept. Laken and Keris meet each other in a transitional time in both of their lives. Laken is taking a leap with his brewing company (which I need to visit ASAP!) and Keris is leaving a toxic situation. Circumstances aren’t ideal but when you know, you know and Laken definitely knows. He opens Keris up in a way she hadn’t anticipated. They both push each other and are there to help move past certain painful situations. There weren’t massive expectations and I liked that. Yes, the attraction was there and yes Laken knew Keris was his and while he was honest, there was never pressure. They both were just allowed to…be.

As always with CCJ novels, there was strong character development, solid backstory and chemistry that leapt off the pages.

This story was perfection. Read it and then go visit your local brewery or take a trip somewhere, you may end up exactly where you’re meant to be with who you’re meant to be with. I’m a sucker for love, so indulge me.
