With him, she experienced passion unlike she’d ever felt before…
All her life, Cassidy Wilkerson has been hard-working and practical. When she’s sent to Barcelona to close a deal no one else can, she fully expects to get the job done. Then she meets Alejandro Prieto. She didn’t expect to be attracted to him. And she didn’t expect to begin an affair that’s unwise, not practical, and against her better judgment.
Alejandro Prieto is the head of Prieto Vineyards, a man whose life is steeped in tradition, and the main obstacle to Cassidy’s success. Before she arrived in Spain, he had every intention of sending her back to Boston without a signed contract. Then he meets her. Their attraction is instantaneous, and before long, they succumb to the heat of desire that dances between them.
But when a scandal rocks the house of Prieto, can their newfound love withstand the storm? Or will they both go their separate ways for good?
When In Barcelona, the debut novel by Avery Aston, introduces us to Cassidy Wilkerson. Recently single after leaving a long-term relationship, she is sent by her law firm to Barcelona where she meets Alejandro Prieto, co-owner of Prieto Vineyards. Cassidy needs to convince Alejandro to let her client distribute his wine in the U.S. He’s not convinced and is pretty sure that he’ll send her packing without a deal.
What neither expects is the chemistry that sizzles between them that lead to long nights and eventually a love they didn’t see coming but one that promises a lifetime. However, Cassidy is scheduled to return to the states. Can Alejandro convince her to stay? And when surprising news hits the Prieto family, can Cassidy and Alejandro’s love survive?
When in Barcelona was a sweet romance and a pretty solid debut novel. I only wish that the scandal was played up a bit more. By the synopsis, I would have assumed that we would have gotten a lot more angst. Secrets were revealed pretty close to the end and then it seemed to wrap up pretty quickly. I’m hoping we’ll get another few books in this series so we can see how this all plays out. When I think of international romance, I usually think hot burning passion and scandal (most of the times) and those elements were pretty mild in this novel. However, overall When in Barcelona was a nice novel about preserving a family’s legacy, forgiving past mistakes and finding love again. I’ll be reading another Avery Aston book.
