One glance is all it takes From the moment his eyes meet hers across the crime-scene tape, ex-con turned bodyguard Quasar Patterson knows he has to see the mysterious Dr. Randi Fuller again. She's a renowned psychic investigator who can foresee danger for others, but not for herself. That makes Quasar doubly determined to watch over her—the closer, the better—as she's drawn into a dangerous gang rivalry. Both her psychic gift and their blinding chemistry tell Randi that she and Quasar are fated to be entwined. Even as they surrender to the heat between them, there's no guarantee of a happily-ever-after now that an enemy has her in his sights. And claiming a future will take more than Quasar's strength and skill. If he can't risk the heart he's always held in check, they'll both lose for good…

In Seized by Seduction, Brenda Jackson continues the protector series. We get to know Quasar Patterson and psychic investigator, Dr. Randi Fuller.

So I’m definitely late to the party but I didn’t realize that we knew Randi until we met her sister Haywood. I literally screamed, “wait a minute! Your parents were one of Brenda Jackson’s earliest couples.”

What I liked: while the chemistry was there between these two, I have to admit that the romance took a back seat a few times in this book for me. I was so intrigued by the mystery and crime that was taking place. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I loved that there was a good balance of both the romance and the crime aspect of this novel.

I must say that I was drawn to Quasar a lot earlier than Striker in the previous book. Quasar had history and I love that this was explored. We got enough backstory for us to understand why he was the way he was. It explained his views on relationships, I also liked the fact that he wasn’t jaded despite all the familial issues he experienced.

What I didn’t like: Due to Randi’s psychic abilities, she knew that Quasar was going to be the man for her. She also knew that she would have to work hard to get him to trust her. With that being said, she was willing to give up so quickly. I was annoyed with her! She knew she had to work at this and she knew what the benefits and circumstances were yet she wanted to act brand new. Quasar was put at a distinct disadvantage in this case and so I expected her to take up some of the slack. He couldn’t see the future! Stop acting like he had to read minds too!

Fortunately, both of them came to their senses and realized that they would be much better together than apart.

Yes, they were seized by seduction, but they were also seized by love.

This was a solid addition to the Protector series and now I hope that Stonewall’s story will continue the momentum.
