A jock, a journalist and a second chance . . .
MacKenzie Decker was a question Avery never got to ask, much less answer.
They met when she was a young reporter fueled by ambition, and the ink on Deck's first NBA contract was barely dry. Years later, they've climbed so high and lost so much, but one thing hasn't changed. The attraction that simmered between them in a locker room before is still there. With success like theirs, everything has been possible . . . except them. That was then.
But what about now?
I appreciate a well-done novella, especially during the holidays, and so the latest by Kennedy Ryan was just what I needed!
Hoops Holiday is a super sexy sports romance between a sports reporter, Avery Hughes, and former professional athlete, MacKenzie Decker aka Deck. They met ten years ago and their awkward encounter didn’t go so well and stayed on the minds of both for quite some time. The attraction was slightly evident then and years later the lust and attraction are palpable. It’s just not lusting though, there’s a promise of something more that is simmering beneath the surface with these two that if allowed to be explored, can prove to be magical for both characters. However, life has worn them both down a bit, and Avery, in particular, is still reeling for a personal tragedy that may make it hard for her to let Deck in.
This novella hits all of the major points; it’s sizzling with chemistry, there’s an undeniable attraction, tension and enough emotion to keep you invested. There’s a whole lot of heart in this novella and though it’s short, it packs a punch. You’ll read it all in one sitting.
Fans of Kennedy’s Hoops series will love this holiday gift, set slightly before August and Iris’s happily ever after. You’re also in for a treat as there is new content from both Long Shot (August and Iris’s story) and Block Shot (Banner and Jared’s story).
If you’re not familiar with the Hoops world, feel free to dive right in with Hoops Holiday and let Avery and Mack sweep you away in this angsty novella.
